Loving and serving our community

Important News

17th March 2020: St Gabriel’s, in the Parish of Walthamstow, will suspend all public services, including Sunday worship, from today (17th March 2020) until further notice in keeping with the latest public health advice and today’s guidance from The Church of England.

As our Archbishops write, this is an opportunity for us “to become a different sort of church in these coming months” but one that is still “hopeful and rooted in the offering of prayer and praise, and overflowing in service to the world.”

Our Parish Rector, Revd Vanessa Conant, says, “This a time of high anxiety and difficulty, but as followers of Jesus Christ, our call is the same: to follow him, to grow as disciples, to serve those in need, to love God, and to love our neighbours as we love ourselves. I look forward to seeing how we can be church in new ways in this time, including setting up new WhatsApp groups, regularly calling those who are vulnerable, delivering food to those who can’t get out and growing through service, worship and prayer.”

The team at St Gabriel’s are already working to create a video-based Sunday service, along with other ways to learn, worship and connect with one another. We are also working together to reach out to the rest of the church and the wider community, who we are called to serve.

We’ll update our website and social media channels in the days to come with new ways to join us online in prayer, fellowship and learning, including on Sunday morning.

With blessings from
